Problem 8.46

Write Lewis structures for the following:

(a) H2CO (both H atoms are bonded to C)

We have 12 valence electrons:

(b) H2O2

Here we have have 14 electrons:

(c) C2F6 (contains a C-C bond)

This one 2(4)+6(7) = 50 valence electrons:

(d) AsO33-

This one has 5+3(6) + 3 (don't forget the ionic charge!) = 26 valence electrons:

(e) H2SO3 (H is bonded to O)

We have 2(1) + 6 + 3(6) = 26 valence electrons:

(f) C2H2

This one has 10 valence electrons:
